In surely the least apologetic apology ever, ousted Race and Inclusion editor Hemal Jhaveri barely acknowledges that the tweet which ended her 8-year stint with USA Today was dead wrong.
Instead, the perpetually aggrieved Jhaveri frames her firing as just more white supremacy, proving she’s learned completely zilch from what could have been a real life lesson for her.
Her tweet, the one she had to retract, is one you probably saw people complaining about quite a bit. It was ugly.

As you know, it turned out Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa wasn’t white after all. His victims were though.
Here’s what Jhaveri had to say about it on Friday.
There was social media outrage, threats and harassment towards me, and by the end of the day, USA TODAY had relieved me of my position as a Race and Inclusion editor.
I wish I were more surprised by it, but I’m not. Some part of me has been waiting for this to happen because I can’t do the work I do and write the columns I write without invoking the ire and anger of alt-right Twitter. There is always the threat that tweets which challenge white supremacy will be weaponized by bad faith actors. I had always hoped that when that moment inevitably came, USA TODAY would stand by me and my track record of speaking the truth about systemic racism.
That, obviously, did not happen.
She’s blaming – get this – white supremacy FOR her FALSELY blaming white supremacy!
I’d post more from the stupid rant but you can probably figure it out.
You can expect Twitter to be litter with sewage from the left trying to snark about “oh I thought you hated cancel culture” remarks. They won’t realize that’s an admission on their part that cancel culture is real, nor will they understand that this firing obeys THEIR established rules.
But what we can understand is that the Race and Inclusion editor isn’t just some schmo when commenting about race and inclusion. That’s her actual job. She screwed up at it. And believe it or not, even in modern woke America you can still get fired for being bad at your job.
So… bye.
