Disinformation is really a big deal, says CNN. They talk about it ALL THE TIME. Especially the fat dumb and bald guy. Also they are really REALLY sensitive about insults, mischaracterizations, false accusations, all that … when they’re the ones doing it.
Except they are ALWAYS the ones doing it. Case in point, relatives of Michael Flynn, who are now suing over being smeared on the network.
Flynn’s brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Leslie Flynn, filed a lawsuit in New York City this week, arguing that CNN falsely represented them using deceptively edited video back in September.
From Daily Beast:
The former national security adviser’s relatives, Jack and Leslie Flynn, accuse the cable network of defamation and invasion of privacy. They claim that CNN falsely painted them as followers of the QAnon mass conspiracy theory in a segment titled “CNN Goes Inside A Gathering Of QANON Followers.”
And from The Hill:
“Plaintiffs are not followers or supporters of any extremist or terrorist groups, including QAnon,” the suit states. “CNN falsely attributed to Plaintiffs associations that never existed, actions Plaintiffs never took, including an oath of allegiance to QAnon, and views Plaintiffs never held.”
“CNN’s false attributions exposed Plaintiffs to public scorn, ridicule and contempt, and lowered their esteem in the community, causing insult, embarrassment, humiliation and substantial injury to Plaintiffs’ reputations,” it continued.
Good, sued their butts off and sell the butts. CNN’s fast-and-loose way of dealing with facts, not to mention privacy, is well established at this point, and based entirely on one’s politics. Jake Tapper is among the worst even as he tries to pretend to be CNN’s most objective player.
I hope the Flynns win. I hope the judge decides $75M isn’t enough. I hope it hurts.
