These are tough times for Dr. Anthony Fauci, whose days in the national spotlight may be coming to a close. Unsurprisingly, states that refused to impose his draconian measures are thriving. Meanwhile, the states that had the harshest lockdowns are a disaster.
In The Wizard Of Oz it was Dorothy’s little dog Toto pulling back the curtain to expose the fraud. This week, it was Rep. Jim Jordan who did the same thing to Fauci. The epic exchange happening during a Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis hearing.
The Ohio Republican put Fauci on the spot over why states that followed his recommendations to lock down, restrict businesses and mask-up weren’t faring significantly better than those that opened up.
Fauci was unable to explain why, only offering up the lame excuse that people are ignoring the lockdown orders. This tired cop-out does nothing to explain why wide-open Texas (where nobody is obeying anything) is faring dramatically better than Michigan and other Democrat-controlled states.
Producing a chart showing states’ average coronavirus cases, Jordan put Fauci on the spot: “You gave us a guess on Texas, look at the chart here, this is a seven day average of case rate per 100,000 people,” he said, “you gave us your guess on Texas, you said when Texas ended their lockdown, ended their mandate, quote “this was inexplicable and would lead to a surge in cases”.
He continued, “Texas is near the bottom of the fifty states. But all the states at the top are lockdowns states, so how great was that? That guess didn’t seem to be too good, what explains why Texas is so darned low compared to the rest of the states?” said Jordan; “Lockdown states have a much higher case rate than the state of Texas which is, over a month ago now, said we’re not going to lock down, we’re not going to have all of these mandates that you say we have to have”.
Fauci replied:“Yeah, there’s a difference between a lockdown and the people obeying the lockdown“, he dissembled, “you know, you can have a situation where they say we’re gonna lockdown and yet you have people doing exactly what they want to do“.
Jordan pressed, “That is what’s happening in the top eight states in the country, they’re just not following what’s been told, they’re just not listening Dr. Fauci?”
Fauci dodged, “I’m, I’m sorry, you’re speaking so fast I’m not hearing what you’re saying”, adding, “I can’t see that, it’s too far away.”
Undeterred, Jordan continued, “Well Michigan’s at 551 cases per 100,000, Texas is at 77”, as he went on to compare other blue states to free states.
At that point, Democrat Rep. Jim Clyburn (who engineered Joe Biden’s comeback in last year’s primaries) intervened and dropped the gavel on Jordan, whose time had expired. Fauci had to be rescued from further embarrassment in front of everyone..
The career bureaucrat has driven the nation’s policies on the COVID response despite his constant flip-flopping and contradictions. He clearly has contempt for the civil liberties of Americans, just like the governors of the lockdown states.
